Hands on Health

Trying to decide what you want to do in terms of a career after secondary school finishes should be an exciting time. There is a world of opportunities available to you and achieving your dream will take some dedication, desire and passion. Again and again, research points to the importance of university education in helping young Australians build a better future for themselves.

The Hands on Health program is for those dedicated year 10, 11 and 12 students with an interest in the Health Sciences to fully explore all options.  The team from the program are here to help you expand your understanding of the healthcare industry and assist you in realising your true potential within this field.

A career in the Health Sciences offers a dynamic and rewarding experience, however picking the right path is often tricky, especially when you don’t even know what’s out there! Through the Hands on Health program we’ll introduce you to the multitude of pathways available and walk with you as you progress from school to university and beyond.

To achieve all this we recognise the need for our participants to be both prepared for tackling VCE and also equipped to negotiate the waters of university. Our aim is to inspire you, and ignite your passion in your own career choices and help to deconstruct the ins and outs of university.

The journey begins in Year 10, students can apply to the week Work Experience Program through your school. This work experience is like no other and the Hands On Health Program works in conjunction with Monash Heath at Dandenong Hospital and Peninsula Health at Frankston Hospital to give you a very unique experience and look into the world of healthcare. The program looks at many carer opportunities and how these careers work together for the care of patient’s outcome.

For those students currently undertaking Year 11 you are eligible to apply for a fun and informative day at our Moorabbin simulation labs, this day will be a hands-on and informative encompassing an array of sessions in different healthcare careers. This is a fun interactive and informative day not to be missed, places will be limited and registration will be essential. >> registration form

As you can see no matter what stage you are at, we will be there to guide and support you through this career journey.

Finally, we understand that flourishing into a successful student means learning about yourself, Your study habits, Your motivations and Your strengths. It’s about being inspired, having people believe in you and you believing in yourself. And that’s exactly what we’re here to do. We look forward to welcoming you to the Hands on Health community.
